As the world appears to drift from the reality of our fast degrading environment and the need for action, I have seen the need to actively lead on environmental advocacy that seeks to influence people, shape policies, set up structures and maximize systems.
For me, being a media consultant offers a rare sense of fulfilment. Beyond creating contents that educates a broad scope of people and triggers desired actions from specific audience, the window to serve as the face and voice of some well-known businesses, organizations, multinational and individuals across social landscape makes me clear headed.
As passionate as I am about Nigeria, the centrality of diplomacy and international relations for development appeals strongly to me. Currently, as a diplomat-in-training, I am learning to sustain conversations with an endless variety of people with an endless range of backgrounds and interests.
The term “Sustainable Development” has been sorely abused, especially since the transition of the MDGs to SDGs. As a Nigerian – knowing how Nigeria is regarded as a developing nation, I am still trying to understand these frameworks and how it works to leave no one behind - before 2030.
