Conversations (Abuja)

Be brave enough to start a conversation that matters. — Margaret Wheatley

I have seen how impactful conversations can be. If you reflect on your journey deeply you might be able to remember that one conversation that opened you up to a new world of possibilities. For me, many of my milestones started from just one conversation and that is why I am striving for more young people to have platforms for meaningful conversations!

Conversation is an exchange of thoughts that leaves all parties to it a grain wiser.

Grateful that the Climate Talk Podcast reaches thousands of people monthly but it misses out on group interactions which I deem important. While in Abuja, I thought it would be useful for young folks to gather in a cosy room for environment-oriented conversations. As I imagined it, just 10 people with interests in climate change and environmental fields. Just having conversations about the environment: What solutions are people leading? What interesting innovation can be explored? Which opportunities exist? How other people have navigated the challenges they faced.

43 people showed up and we had such beautiful conversations for the three hours we spent at the American Spaces Abuja. I know this conversation will matter for many of those who were in the room and by extension the many others whose lives would be shaped by this!

Our place in the world is better understood through conversations with the right people.

Super grateful to friends at DEAN Initiative, led by Semiye Michael and Dorcas Mokikan the Project Manager. To Lauritta, Tomi, Kim and Usman – how pleasant and dependable you have been through the years.

It is not what we learn in conversation that enriches us. It is the elation that comes of swift contact with tingling currents of thought.
